7 to 9 Months Milestones

Every baby grows at a different rate, but there are some general milestones you can watch for at this age. Your baby will be experimenting, exhibiting new skills, and maybe even beginning to crawl. By the time he/she reaches the age of 9 months, your baby will probably:

  • Be exploring, investigating, and experimenting
  • Love finding hidden objects and playing peek-a-boo games
  • Sit without support and twist/turn while sitting
  • Begin to crawl, creep, or pull him/herself forward
  • Respond to his/her own name and "no," distinguish emotions by your tone of voice, and respond to sounds by making sounds.
  • Use his/her fingers to pick up small objects, feed him/herself, and poke at things.
  • Be anxious around strangers and more "clingy" toward you
  • Try to imitate simple words like "cat" and "baby"
  • Have top and bottom front teeth
  • Start learning to drink from a sippee cup
