How to Clean a Baby Car Seat

When planning for parenthood, learning how to clean a baby car seat probably wasn’t high on your list of priorities. Your little one will spend a lot of time in their baby car seat, so knowing how to sanitize it is a handy way to keep them safe from bacteria.

Luckily with Lysol®, this chore isn’t one that you’ll need to carry out often, and it’s a pretty straightforward one at that.
You should always check your baby car seat’s specific owner’s manual or online instructions regarding cleaning, but in the meantime, here are some simple tips to get you started.

How to clean baby car seats

Step 1 – When you come to clean your baby car seat, you’ll first want to remove the cover. The plastic seat is where wet and sticky messes tend to hide, so use Lysol® Disinfecting Wipes and Lysol® All-Purpose Cleaner to get in those nooks and crannies.

Step 2 – Put the fabric cover in the wash with Lysol® Laundry Santizer and then lay it flat to dry. Follow up with a good covering of a Lysol® Disinfectant Spray to get rid of any nasties.

Step 3 – Now you’ll need to know how to clean baby car seat belts. You can often remove the buckles from the seat entirely, but make sure you know how to put them back on. Once removed, wash the buckles with running water to remove any debris, but don’t use any soap. Once dry, test that each buckle snaps audibly back into place, pulling on it for confirmation and replace it on the seat.

Next, or if you want to disinfect baby car seat straps without removing the buckles, simply use a Lysol® Disinfectant Spray.
